Kalak Citrus Spice

We love to enjoy Kalak neat, but here is a great way to spice it up while respecting that wonderful flavour and character.

Method

Add 50 ml of Kalak Single Malt Vodka, large ice cube, small cinnamon stick and a curl of lemon zest into a tumbler. Leave to infuse for a few minutes, swirl, sip and enjoy!

Long Smash

Fresh herbs and citrus merge wonderfully with Kalak in this cooling summer quencher.

Ingredients

50 ml Kalak Single Malt Vodka
50 ml fresh grapefruit juice
6 tarragon Leaves
1 bar spoon of Sugar

Method

Muddle the tarragon in a shaker with the grapefruit juice and sugar until the sugar has combined. Add in the Kalak and lots of ice. Seal and shake hard for ten seconds. Fine strain into a chilled glass. Add a dash of sparkling mineral water.

Garnish

Grapefruit twist and tarragon sprig.

Black Betty

Discover the wicked and wild side of Kalak through Black Betty. She knows how to deliver a bittersweet smack of the most intense flavours.

Ingredients

50 ml Kalak Single Malt Vodka
10 ml Amaro Montenegro
1 Bar spoon of Irish blackcurrant jam
10 ml Fresh lemon juice
1 Dash of Peychaud’s Bitters
1 dash of orange bitters

Method

Place all ingredients in a shaker and fill it with ice. Seal it and shake hard for 20 seconds. Fine strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Garnish

Orange twist.

Kalak Tippperary

The classic Irish whiskey cocktail gets a contemporary Kalak twist. The creamy and biscuit notes in Kalak blend beautifully with the herbal Chartreuse and sweet vermouth.

Ingredients

35 ml Kalak Single Malt Vodka
15 ml Green Chartreuse
15 ml Sweet Italian vermouth

Method

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with some ice. Stir for about 20 seconds and strain into a chilled tumbler. Stir the drink again for 10 seconds with the garnish, then fill the glass with ice and stir again with the garnish.

Garnish

1 sprig of thyme studded with 3 green olives.

Witches Brew

This brew needs a wee touch of a sweetened IPA to make it’s magic happen. Not all witch’s elixirs come out of cauldrons.

Ingredients

50 ml Kalak Single Malt Vodka
15 ml Wicklow Wolf IPA (sweetened reduction)
2 Dashes of orange bitters
1 Dash of Angostura bitters

Method

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with some ice. Stir for twenty seconds. Strain into an iced tumbler. (For the sweetened reduction, heat 500ml of IPA in a saucepan until it reduced by two thirds. Allow to chill fully before use).

Garnish

Half an orange slice.

Kalak Martini

Wild Ireland meets urban chic in this elegant and sophisticated take on the classic Martini.

Ingredients

50 ml Kalak Single Malt Vodka
Good dash of Lillet Blanc (5 or 10 ml depending on your taste)

Method

Gently stir in large glass with lots of ice (do not shake!) Strain into into a chilled martini glass.

Garnish

Lemon twist.

Queen Beet

Earthy beetroot, spicy ginger, rocket leaves and the purity of Kalak – our Queen Beet sits on a decadent throne.

Ingredients

50 ml Kalak Single Malt Vodka
1 Teas spoon of cooked beetroot
10 ml Cockspur Falernum
Juice of half a lime
6 Rocket leaves
2 Cubes of crystallized ginger

Method

Place beetroot, lime, ginger and rocket in a shaker and muddle hard for twenty seconds. Then pour in the liquor and shake hard for twenty seconds and fine strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Garnish

Fresh nutmeg.

Kalak 'Re-Fashioned'

Ingredients

50ml Kalak Peat Cask Single Malt Vodka
2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters
1 dash of Orange bitters
1 bar spoon of sugar or sugar syrup (preferably demerara)
Splash of sparkling water

Method

Muddle bitters, sugar and sparkling water in tumbler glass and serve on ice in a tumbler glass.

Garnish

Garnish with orange peel and speared maraschino cherry.

Kalak Peat Cask Penicillan

Ingredients

50ml Kalak Peat Cask Single Malt Vodka
20ml fresh lemon juice
20ml honey-ginger syrup

Method

To make the honey-ginger syrup, heat 1 cup water, 1 cup honey and 3 x 5cm fresh ginger slices in a saucepan. Bring to boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes. Allow to cool overnight in fridge and strain. Shake and serve tumbler over ice.

Garnish

Garnish with with crystallised ginger.

Kalak Peat Cask Bloody Mary

Ingredients

50ml Kalak Peat Cask Single Malt Vodka
100ml tomato juice
10ml lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
2 dashes Tabasco

Garnish

Stir and garnish with celery stick and sprinkle of celery salt.
